Dear Walker,
We are looking forward to the 32nd Annual Good Friday Walk. Last year’s walk brought over 618 walkers together on Good Friday to raise funds which were distributed throughout the year to 297 North Shore families. As a sponsored walker, you will receive a free T-shirt. Last year’s incoming donations totaled $78,781 and outgoing donations to those in need totaled $69,051. Due to high unemployment rates, increasing utility bills and climbing medical costs, The Good Friday Walk is receiving requests from more people who find themselves unable to make ends meet. Ninety-one percent of all donations in 2010 were distributed on the North Shore. Three percent was used for charitable giving outside of the North Shore. Six percent of our budget was used for other expenses, which were limited to printing, paper, postage, website fees and T-shirts for Walkers. The Good Friday Walk is organized by a 100% volunteer workforce.
A sincere Thank You to last year’s walkers & volunteers
Let’s do it again on Friday, April 22! The 11 mile walk will start at St. John the Evangelist School at Rear 552 Cabot Street in Beverly and proceed to the Baptist Church in downtown Beverly, then continue on to the Church in the Cove and St. Margaret’s Church in Beverly Farms. Walkers will follow the same route back to St. John’s. Lunch for all walkers will be served at St. Margaret’s Church in the cafeteria. We welcome our senior walkers to walk to the Baptist Church and back to St. John’s.
Sponsor sheets can be downloaded on the “Walk Info” page at www.goodfridaywalk.org. Remember to ask for donations to the Walk, not pledges per mile. The needy are counting on you. One person can make a difference. To all of our non-walkers, we can always use help during the Walk or send a donation. This year The Walk occurs during a school vacation week which may affect the number of Walkers able to attend. We hope to offset this with increased donations, which can be made online at www.goodfridaywalk.org.
